Pilots Kick Off Spring

Approx. 30 members of the Canyon Pilots Association and The Canyon Country Ultralight Club gathered at N38 on March 23 to kick off the spring flying season.  The 27 degree morning had winds 10 gusting to 24 kts according to the Wellsville NY AWOS.  It felt more like a mid-winter day rather than late March.  Rumor has it that Punxsutawney Phil has been placed in protective custody and is on suicide watch after this years big miss of predicting the arrival of spring.  There were two pilots who braved the conditions and flew in for pizza.  Jim Hoopes in his Just Aircraft Highlander and Ralph Wolstenholme in his Aerobat.

The next event at the airport will be held April 20th.  It is an "Aviation Day."  The Cival Air Patrol will do demonstartions and giving presentations.  The Mountian Modelairs will be displaying their RC aircraft and Canyon Pilots Association and Canyon Ultralight Club members will be on hand to discuss their club activities as well.

There are now two aircraft available for instruction, rental and scenic rides. A high-wing Cessna 172 and a low-wing Piper Warrior.
